Little by Little

Little by little, block by block,

Penny by penny, rock by rock.

A great tower was never built in an hour;

A great man was never built in a day.

A little progress each day is your superpower.

Consistent small steps are the only way.

A great tree never climbed to the clouds in a year’s time. Its roots needed many years of anchoring before they could sustain the thick and towering tree. Jesus said, “do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” God’s Word is a “lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” It often doesn’t show us each step of the way at once, but God is faithful to always show us our next step if we are listening for His voice. The headlights of a car at night only let you see about 300 feet ahead, much less when in dense fog, but as you continue forward, you see the next little bit, and the next little bit, and before you know it, you’ve made it home

If our hearts are set on walking with Jesus along His “highway of holiness,” we will “hear a word behind you, saying, ‘this is the way, walk ye in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” And what a wonderful truth it is that God through His Word shows us the ultimate destination to which we can set our compass. Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard the things that God has prepared for those who love Him, but He has revealed them to us by His Spirit, and in a coming day, our ears shall hear the sweet sounds of Heaven and our eyes shall see the very face of God.
