Lazy Days

Lazy days, lazy days,

O how we need lazy days.

In the midst of crazy days,

We need a little rest.

If God Himself rested

From the work that He did well,

How much more ought we to rest

In this weary world where we dwell.

If Jesus napped on a boat,

And in Him is no sin,

Who are we to think that we

Don’t need rest to help us win.

This is no message to sluggards,

To them we say, “get up!”

This is for the weary soul

Whose hands and mind never stops.

The Lord gives His beloved sleep,

And catches our tears when we weep.

He Himself has promised to keep.

So, do your best work, and then delight in sleep that’s deep.

May God establish the work of your hands,

And through your labors shine His light.

He, more than anyone, understands,

And He offers you deep sleep’s delight.
